Enzyme Model Systems: Sulfur Analogue Carbonic Anhydrase, Latent Matrix Metalloprotease and Thiolate Alkylating Enzymes
Synthesis of zinc(II) - containing complexes bearing one azamacrocyclic ligand
and one thiolate ligand using different thiolates and azamacrocycles
Investigation of the nucleophilic reactivity of these complexes towards alkyl
halides and heterocumulenes (COS, CS2)
Is there a structure - reactivity correlation?
DFT optimizations / NBO-analyses of the above described complexes. An existing
correlation between certain orbital energies and bond lengths could be a measure
for the complexes' nucleophilic reactivity.
Measurement of reaction kinetics to prove this theory. Is there a possibility to predict the actual reactivities?
Reactions with Heterocumulenes
Investigation of the mechanism of the reaction of the thiolates with heterocumulenes (associative vs. dissociative reaction paths)
Heterocumulenes used: CS2, COS, and CO2
